Safe-React Formula E (For Etching Concrete)

Reaction and handling properties
Fume behaviourSalt-based formulations do not produce toxic fumes; the phosphoric-acid formulations do not produce significant fumes.
D.O.T. classificationThe salt-based Safe Concrete Remover is non-corrosive by D.O.T. standards; the phosphoric-acid Econo and Combo formulations are classed corrosive to skin.
Effect on surfacesDoes not attack metal, glass or plastic; aluminium may discolour where phosphoric acid is present.
Reaction on concreteEffervesces on contact with concrete in the same way as hydrochloric acid and other acids.
Active chemistryA proprietary salt mixture in the Safe and Plus formulations; phosphoric acid in the Econo formulation; both combined in the Combo formulation.

Safe-React Formula E (For Etching Concrete) is designed to replace muriatic acid in concrete finishing applications. It is a concentrated formula, to be used by concrete professionals the same way they normally use muriatic acid. Formula E has minimal effervescence, which means it leaves behind less fine white powdery residue than muriatic acid. This, and the non-fuming characteristic, are the main reasons our customers continue to re-order this product at a high rate.

No Fumes

Safe-React Formula E does not produce toxic fumes. Studies show hydrochloric acid fumes are not only immediately harmful when inhaled, but can be very harmful to worker"s lungs when breathed (even at low concentrations) over a long period of time.

Performs Like Muriatic Acid

Safe-React Formula E fizzes when it contacts concrete, like muriatic (also known as hydrochloric) acid. It is a unique salt-based liquid that does not contain any hazardous acid.

Non-Hazardous

Saves time and money since it is non-hazardous. Storage and shipping expenses are reduced, and time-consuming handling procedures are not required. Also, muriatic acid can be costly in injury-related expenses.

Minimal Effervescence

When muriatic acid is used for concrete etching or surface preparation, the most time-consuming part of the job is cleaning the powdery residue that remains on the surface after rinsing and drying. Safe-React Formula E leaves significantly less of this residue than muriatic acid.

Non-Corrosive

Safe-React Formula E is non-corrosive by D.O.T. standards. It does not attack metal, glass, or plastic. Can be used to etch concrete in areas where these surfaces are present and would normally be damaged by muriatic acid.

Applications

Can be used for any concrete etching or surface preparation job. Particularly useful for indoor etching or any location where fumes are a concern. Use exactly as you would muriatic acid. Will provide the same end result, depending on concentration and duration; including acid etched finish, aggregate exposed finish, etc. Normally will require approximately 20% longer exposure time to accomplish the same results as muriatic acid. May not perform as effectively on concrete with unusual inorganic admixtures. Safe-React Formula E also performs other non-concrete-related jobs which normally require the use of muriatic acid such as pH adjustment.

Directions

Use for etching concrete in the same manner as muriatic acid. If you are performing a task where you would normally dilute acid before applying it, dilute Safe-React Formula E the same way. For preparing a concrete floor prior to sealing, dilute 5 to 20 ounces per 1 gallon of water.
